Thanks Kevin, I had seen those but wasn’t sure how well they worked. I was up in your neighborhood in the spring. Nova Scotia is incredibly beautiful. My wife and I rented an RV in Halifax and travelled the country for 9 days. I had forgotten you lived there or I would have looked you up.
Tybee, I’m posting late but wanted to let you know there’s a group of 5 or 6 of us in Jacksonville that go out whenever there’s a ridable wave. We have a lot of fun and enjoy our skis. There’s also Steve Bott in fernadina beach. We’ve had a couple of sanctioned contests recently. In October we have a camp n surf weekend at Hanna Park. This will be our 4th year. Last but not least Several Riordan (GA Animal) just got back from competing in the World Waveski Championship in Portugal. Come down and join us anytime. Wavesking as a sport/recreation is still alive.
Just thought I would give an Update. I purchased it for $50… Its really fun when conditions are choppy or rough… Like surfing on my couch..Great beginner ski….. I put a bigger center fin (5.75) on it and it handles better. Recently purchased some FCS fin box converters with a couple of side fins. The fins on it didn’t work very well for the ski.
Tyler, do you recall anything about the ski or what you did to improve it (if anything)? I think that’s pretty cool that was your first ski. Look at where you are today.
thanks for the input. I’ll post a pic when I can. I like the Jetsons analogy…. Good description. I does look a bit funky by todays standards.
Wow – lots of great information… I feel a project coming on.. 😀
Really appreciate it…. I’ll post the results.
Also, how did you determine what dimensions to use for the seat for comfort and fit? depth, width, shape of butt. etc. 😀
Ramon, where did you get your seat and who made it?
Im not Sandman or Ga Animal 🙂 but shoot me your contact info on private messaging and ill keep you in the loop when we go out. It would be great to have you join us.
Ditto ..Appreciate your time and effort. happy new year
Appreciate the advice…. 😀
Really appreciate your efforts to keep this forum running.
Interesting idea. Wouldnt be that hard to do and no structural changes needed.. if it didnt help i could move it back. Will try steves suggestion first of having someone take a picture of me on the ski in a pool. That might tell me how far to move forward.
Appreciate that Steve… The fact that im upright would explain why sometimes i fall back. I would imagine that sitting upright on a gusty day can push you off balance too. Never thought about the bouyancy though. Ill check it out. I have access to a pool. The paddle out sat and sun wore me out. The wind was what made it tough.. on a couple occassions by the time i got out the gas tank was empty. I must be gettin old.. 🙂 Had a blast though. Enjoyed surfin with you guys.
