Hope we get some good waves for Cocoa, WB looks to be only marginally better than last year. Of course there were waves last weekend, and next weekend is looking good too. But hey, we'll all get together, and have a Throw down, or a smack down, or whatever you call it when you do an off the lip move and land on your head in the sand. I call it a reason to drink more beer.
No really, waves are to be smallish, but should definitely be rideable. I have been given 2 $250 gift certificates towards the purchase of a new murky waters kayak to be given away in the competitors raffle, plus some other stuff, courtousy, sticky fingers, Salt Marsh Kayak co, and the doublewide skate barn.

Gordon you throw a great contest with a great vibe not to mention WB is absolutely a beautiful area and I enjoyed my last 2 trips to your contests immensely. Unfortunately business does not allow me to make this one.
As far as waves, no one has control over nature otherwise there would be perfect surf every day of the year! With that said, what makes a truly successfully event is that it is well run and the promoter creates a positive and fun event for the competitors. Gordon knows that promoters are not just running a contest, they are also running a social event. Wave size is never a guarantee but the show must go on, hell even the last Worlds got skunked for waves and it was located at a place that typically always has great surf year round!
For anyone that has ever watched the pro's surf, we know that even on small surf the true competitors work even harder than they do when it's big to pull off the win. Ask any pro if the win in small conditions was any less important as they do not get to be champions by being too good to surf small waves, small surf happens and it's not the size thats as important as how well you can work with what we have been given, thats a true competitor....
Have fun!

PS> Besides surf, whats more fun than hanging out with a bunch of guys and gals on the beach with a bunch of people that all love doing the same thing you do, comparing waveskis and stories?
